Interventional Radiology
Dr. Schwartz is an interventional radiologist leading MIU’s new IR/PAE Center.
He graduated from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University in 2005, after which he completed his residency and fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital. During residency, he was elected Chief Resident. He then joined the Interventional Radiology faculty at Henry Ford Hospital in 2011.
Dr. Schwartz has been very involved in medical education. In 2016, he became the Interventional Radiology Residencies Program Director at Henry Ford Hospital. He also served as Division Chief of Interventional Radiology until his departure.
During his faculty tenure, Dr. Schwartz was particularly interested in growing Interventional Radiology services, offering cutting-edge procedures and patient-centered care. He led the development of a Pulmonary Embolism Response Team and the expansion of multiple services, including thromboembolic disease, interventional oncology, and portal venous reconstruction. Collaborating with urologists, he was the first physician in Michigan to offer Prostate Artery Embolization and has since maintained the largest and most experienced PAE practice in Michigan.
In 2023, Dr. Schwartz joined IR Centers in Metro Detroit to continue leading the development of minimally invasive interventional and embolization techniques.
Dr. Schwartz is a board-certified Interventional Radiologist with IR Centers at the Michigan Institute of Urology.
